Changing API Environment in Spector

1. Overview of API Environment

The API environment in Spector determines the server settings that the app connects to for data exchange. In certain situations, such as when operating within a secured internal network, you may need to switch the API environment from the default setting to an internal or custom server.

2. Accessing the API Environment Settings

  1. Launch the Spector App: Start by launching the Spector app on your Mixed Reality device.

  2. Navigate to the Hand Menu: Raise your hand or use the designated gesture to access the hand menu within Spector.

  3. Go to the "Advanced" Section: In the hand menu, locate and select the "Advanced" section. This is where more detailed settings and configurations can be adjusted.

3. Changing the API Environment

  1. Open the API Environment Menu: Within the "Advanced" section, find the option labeled "API Environment" or similar. Selecting this option will open the API environment settings menu.

  2. Choose the Desired Environment:

    • Select an Internal Environment: If you're operating within a secured network, select the appropriate internal API environment from the list. This might be labeled according to your organization's server settings.

    • Custom Server Settings: If you need to connect to a specific custom server, you can enter the server details manually within this menu.

  3. Apply Changes: After selecting or entering the desired API environment, confirm and apply the changes. The Spector app will now operate using the new API environment settings.

4. Verifying the Change

  1. Test the Connection: Once the API environment has been changed, it’s a good idea to verify the connection. Perform a basic operation within Spector to ensure that the app is communicating correctly with the new server.

  2. Troubleshooting: If you encounter any issues after changing the environment, return to the API environment menu to check the settings, or consult your network administrator for assistance.
